Name: Every Child has a Chance! It's You!
    Date: June 9, 2018
    Time: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM CDT
    Event Description:
When a child enters the foster care system because his or her home is no longer safe, a judge may appoint a committed volunteer to help them. That volunteer is called a Court Appointed Special Advocate®, or CASA.

CASA volunteers are screened and highly trained and then appointed by judges to represent and advocate for a child’s best interests in the child protection system. CASA volunteers serve as the “eyes and ears” for the court and the "voice" for the child.

CASA volunteers are frequently the only stable presence in these children’s lives as they navigate the foster care system. These volunteers bring three critical qualities to their work: they focus on one case at a time; they bring a unique perspective to the court case; and their sole objective is representing the best interests of the child.

    A CASA Volunteer must:
    * Be 21 years of age or older
    * Successfully pass screening and background check requirements
    * Successfully complete initial in-depth training provided by the
CASA for Kids of South Central Texas program
    * Be able to make a 12-month minimum commitment to a case
(An average of 10-12 hours per month)
    * Be able to keep information confidential and work within
    established program guidelines

Join CASA for Kids of South Central Texas at our next Pre-Service Training. If the Advocate role may not be the right fit, but you still want to help our mission, we have other opportunities available: CASA Crusaders ("Friends" of CASA), Corporate Sponsors, Donors, Legislative Advocacy Team, Speaker's Bureau, etc.
